» The iriver P10 - Your dream PMP is here.
May 20, 2008 - 6:01 PM - by YJ
iriver has long been shy about its latest gadgets but today marks the launch of its brand new flagship multimedia rocker, the P10, nicknamed "p. Ple". iriver claims that it is 33% smaller, lighter and slimmer than any other PMP out there in the world; but it doesn't make any compromises on storage and has a whopping 33GB available for all your multimedia junk. The secret behind the P10's ultra small, light and slim design is that it is the world's first PMP to use the smallest HDD out there, a 1.3" micro disk. Added to that the curvy "soft" design in stylish white or black and you have got a very sexy player indeed that fits right in your hand and pocket.

Of course, iriver doesn't end here. With its incredibly pixel-sharp 800x480 4.3" Wide Full Touchscreen, you can enjoy all your multimedia, including PDF and Microsoft Office documents, on its beautiful LCD backed up by a powerful AMD AU1250 600Mhz processor. Simplicity is the keyword to its GUI powered by Adobe Flash and Windows CE which you can fully customize and edit as you want - with all features ready on just one touch. With a life companion organizer, handwritten recognition technology, oversized album arts, motion sensitive photo gallery, SRS WOW HD technology, huge range of codec support, upcoming "big" firmware upgrades, a built-in speaker and a special "iriver Gothic" font, the P10 is one of the best PMPs we have ever seen. Available now in Korea for $299 and coming to the United States and rest of world very soon.

» The world's slimmest notebook - it's not the Macbook Air, Samsung says.
May 16, 2008 - 4:10 PM - by triples
As the world's largest manufacturer of the next generation OLED (Organically Light Emitting Display) panels, Samsung SDI, the display division of Samsung Electronics, redefined the notebook industry today and has snatched Apple's claim of "the world's thinnest notebook" from the Macbook Air. OLED and SSD technology with a touch sensitive keyboard allows this laptop to be thinner and lighter than anything else on planet earth; without even mentioning any physical details, just one look is enough to see how razer-thin this laptop is:

By far, this prototype laptop uses the largest TFT-OLED display in the world at 12.1inch, with a 1280x768 HD resolution and infinite contrast (yes, you heard it right), powered by oxidized substance TFT technology. Samsung SDI's proprietary AMOLED (Active Matrix OLED) technology is already employed in many gadgets today, such as the popular iriver Clix 2nd Gen, which will be used in many electronics of tomorrow, including High Definition TVs. Rollable OLED displays, along with 14 to 15.4inch panels are to be produced next year and with more and more laptops using Samsung's revolutionary SSD (Solid State Drive) technolgy, they are bound to be made ultra slim and almost weightless in a few years.

» The Samsung Glyde - Verizon's new iPhone killer
May 10, 2008 - 5:49 PM - by YJ
Samsung really wants to have a go at Apple's iPhone these days. Just like its friendly rival LG, the Korean giant is pumping out all sorts of touchscreen phones worldwide and seems to have an eye on our American fellas in particular, launching the great Instinct phone exclusive for Sprint and now launching the Glyde phone for Verizon in the US, which is based on the company's popular F700 model, also known as the 'Qbowl' in Europe.

Unlike the Instinct, the new Glyde has a full QWERTY slide-out keyboard in a sleek and elegant design that will certainly become handy while surfing, emailing or texting. It is Samsung's first phone to support the all new Haptic feedback technology in the US and sports a bright 2.8inch LCD touchscreen with a decent 2 megapixel digital camera. The GUI is highly unique with interactive background images and a cool pulsating blue box that will give you quick access to your stuff. But above all, the price is very attractive at only $249.99 on contract after a $50 rebate for such a great phone.

» LG's SECRET - The sexiest phone ever.
Apr 24, 2008 - 2:42 PM - by triples
The true successor of the popular Chocolate and Shine has arrived - meet the brand new SECRET Black Label Series from LG with an ultra sexy design combined with cutting edge technology. The most amazing aspect of this phone is that unlike those bulky and large 5 megapixel camera phones of today (including LG's very own Viewty), you get an incredibly thin and stylish slider fully packing a 5 megapixel camera with face detection technology, completely submerged into an ultra thin 11.8mm body. What's more, LG seems to take phone fashion seriously and gives the SECRET a carbon-fibre case that is apparently scratch resistant and has an oozing 3D patterned back...

Just like the Viewty, which proved to be more popular than the iPhone in the UK, one of the coolest features of the new SECRET remains the ability to shoot DivX videos at an astonishing 120fps - fast enough for slow motion videos. Sporting DivX technology for high quality video recording & playback, it has a fancy auto-rotating (thanks to its motion sensors), auto-illuminating and scratch resistant (thanks to Tempered Glass technology) 2.4inch touchscreen display that uses its all new "Neon Touch Navigation". That's a hell lot of technology just for a display. Along with LG's latest Haptic feedback technology, you will also be able to enjoy a bunch of Google apps, including YouTube. Get it now if you want to be sexy.

» Samsung Instinct - The ultimate iPhone killer.
Apr 06, 2008 - 11:15 PM - by TheGirl
Until now, there weren't any 'true' iPhone killers from anyone. But the Samsung Instinct changes all that. Available exclusively from Sprint in the US, it is a full touchscreen phone with a large 3.2inch LCD display that will make any multimedia phone fan proud. The Instinct is the fastest 3G touchscreen phone in the US and Sprint's 1st device to feature EV-DO Rev. A in a slim 12.4mm thin device. Dan Hesse, President & CEO of Sprint, said that "This device is like no other touch-screen phone. Period. None are faster. None have more content pre-loaded.", clearly summing up this new impressive all touchscreen phone.

It is the most feature rich touchscreen phone around, with Sprint Music Store for wireless downloads, integrated GPS with Sprint Navigation, a full HTML browser with flip technology, support for Sprint TV and Sprint Radio, Stereo Bluetooth, Audible Caller ID, Voice Dialing & Commands, an advanced Music Player showing Album Arts, High-speed modem capability, unlimited memory expansion with microSD support and Microsoft Live Search, which are just a few of its tremendous list of features, putting the iPhone into the shade. Take that with a $70 per month unlimited data package and we have a serious iPhone challenger here.

» Feels just like real human skin - LG's Skin-on-Skin Phone
Mar 27, 2008 - 6:39 PM - by triples
In South Korea where high-tech phones with thousands of features are all too common and nothing new, both Samsung and LG find it very tough to satisfy the tastes of tech-savy Korean consumers with just cutting edge features and new fancy designs. LG's continued innovation from Chocolate to Banana phones has led to the creation of the all new Skin-on-Skin phone or SH240, which stands out from the crowd of tech-packed phones with the claim that it feels just like real human skin...

The parts on the phone where you constantly touch it - i.e. the navigation and key pad, are now covered with an advanced skin layer made out of silicone that simulates the precise feeling of human flesh by emulating properties such as elasticity, heat and texture to give an incredibly real feeling that you are indeed, touching someone's skin and not hard plastic. You can get this hot fashion slider for 400USD in South Korea and if LG finds it to be a hit at home, it may just make its way to oversea markets soon.

» 16GB Samsung YP-P2 now available to Canadians
Mar 27, 2008 - 6:14 PM - by TheGirl
Samsung's currently best selling MP3 Player is getting a storage bump, in fact double the current 8GB Version to a whopping 16GB. The YP-P2 is more compact than other touchscreen players around and the storage bump will be highly welcomed by many. While Koreans could get their hands on the new 16GB Version a couple of days earlier, now Canadians are getting the joy of getting it first out of South Korea.

The 16GB P2 is now available from the Best Buy Canada website. At C$369.99 (C$329.99 with discount), the YP-P2, as it always has been, is priced very competitively against the iPod Touch. Perhaps it is price that is the driving factor behind this hot cake, along with Samsung's recent release of the so called Bluewave firmware, adding big features to the already impressive touchscreen player. Expect to see an global release very soon.

Mar 27, 2008 - 5:57 PM - by TheGirl
Haven't you always dreamed of looking at your GPS navigation device and hoping you can actually see all the buildings and streets just like in real life? Well, now this dream is reality thanks to Thinkware's iNavi K2. Another new feature is the fancy geomagnetic 3-axis sensor that always points to the north pole and allows faster mapping and quicker positioning while on the move. Of course, the K2 is a full packed PMP too, with the usual DMB Digital Mobile TV, MP3 & Video Player, Photo & eBook Viewer, Games and more. All of this is displayed on the 4.8inch LCD display with a high resolution of 800x480 and stored on the large 8GB SDHC Flash Memory. Grab it now for 560USD if you happen to be in South Korea...

» Samsung Haptic - Next generation technology after touch
Mar 27, 2008 - 5:29 PM - by YJ
Digital Camera, Video Telephoning, GPS, High-Speed Mobile Internet, Touch Technology...Mobile Phones have evolved from simple radio communication tools to what is today one's life companion with countless list of features. Now Samsung is taking this to the next level with the Haptic. Sammy's latest flagship phone sports next generation Haptic Technology, which gives the phone the ability to produce 22 different kind of vibrations via tiny motors built into it based on the user's touch inputs, with exact frequency and strength of vibration to trigger certain feelings to the user.

In combination of Haptic Technology with a large 3.2inch touchscreen and a highly advanced GUI with 3D animations, the Haptic is certainly Sammy's best touchscreen phone to-date. The phone's cutting edge technology is nicely rounded up with DMB Digital Mobile TV built-in, along with 3G and Video Telephoning Technology. The new home screen with widgets and the all new full HTML internet browser should raise the bar for today's touchscreen phones. Like the iPhone, the phone sports a 2 Megapixel Camera and Bluetooth 2.0, all packed into a 12.1mm slim device. Available now for 750USD in South Korea.

» LG's Shine successor - Glimmer, the best of both worlds.
Mar 11, 2008 - 9:34 PM - by YJ
The original Shine design that proved to be a hit amongst fashion phones has been carried over to the new Glimmer phone, with a slight change - namely the full touchscreen combined with the traditional keypad. The sexy phone has a large 2.8inch LCD now, with a completely redesigned GUI from the Shine. The phone still sports the good old 2 Megapixel Digital Camera with Autofocus Technology, although a closer inspection reveals some significant improvements.

Surprisingly, this stylish LG sports Assisted GPS Technology, normally preserved for business or high-end phones. The phone's memory has been bumped up massively to a fat 4GB, including the ability to expand the memory with microSD cards. Of course, the phone supports audio and video playback with built in Bluetooth, being alive for a good 7 days on standby. At 15mm and 127g, the Glimmer is almost as slim and light as the Shine, just much more feature packed. For those of you complaining that touchscreens are useless for texting, you might love this phone.
